SUMMARY:MOTAL: Neglected Lemon Grove Incident
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Teaching and Learning (MOTAL) offers another insight into California's desegregation history. Come to hear about the Lemon Grove Incident and learn its important historical relevance.\n\n	Speakers Mike Madrid and Christina Luna of Chapman University will facilitate the program on Wednesday\, April 25\, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Old O.C. Courthouse\, 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd.\, Santa Ana\, CA 92701.\n\n	In keeping with many of the historical and legal themes that pertain to the landmark Mendez et al. v. Westminster et al. case\, this presentation deals with a piece of neglected history\, the infamous Lemon Grove incident\, which took place in a suburb of San Diego\, California. The case concerns an incident in which students of Mexican descent were required to attend a separate and unequal segregated school that become to known as "the barn."\n\n	The presentation will review and examine the facts of the case and\, more importantly\, how an emboldened group of parents courageously refused to send their children to "the barn" as a tactic to combat the discrimination and segregation that were leveled against them. An excerpt of the film\, The Lemon Grove Incident\, will be featured.\n\n	Make this program part of your night on the town there are many dinner spots in the arts district of Santa Ana just a few blocks away.\n\n	For contact information\, please visit the MOTAL Website.
