SUMMARY:Author Dean Koontz at Fullerton Library
DESCRIPTION:Renowned author Dean Koontz will be the guest speaker at the Fullerton Public Library Sunday\, May 6\, as part of the library's "Distinguished Speaker Series" featuring best-selling authors.\n\n\n\nThe program will begin at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Fullerton Main Library\, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave.\, adjacent to Fullerton City Hall.\n\n\n\nAdmission to the Koontz program is free.\n\n\n\nAuthor of more than 100 titles\, including the "Odd Thomas" and "Frankenstein" series\, Koontz has sold more than 400 million novels worldwide\, and his work has been published in 38 languages. \n\n\n\nThirteen of Koontz' novels have ranked No. 1 on the "New York Times" hardcover best seller list\, making him one of only a dozen writers to have achieved that honor. In addition\, 16 of his books have ranked No. 1 on the Times' paperback best seller list. His works are considered core to the collection of any good public library.\n\n\n\nKoontz\, whose first writing success came when he won an "Atlantic Monthly" writing competition while a senior in college\, worked a year and a half as an English teacher before\, with his wife's support\, becoming a full-time writer. He describes his love of writing as an "endless fascination with the story-telling process."\n\n\n\nIt is difficult to fit Koontz' work to one literary genre as his novels include suspense\, thriller\, and complex psychological stories. In recent years\, he has also written a series of popular books for children based on his much beloved Golden Retriever\, Trixie.\n\n\n\nFurther information about the Koontz appearance or the "Distinguished Speaker Series" may be obtained by calling the Fullerton Main Library at (714) 738-6327.\n\nPersons requiring special accommodations to attend the program are asked to notify the library staff prior to May 6.
