SUMMARY:"America's Love of Mexican Food" Library Program
DESCRIPTION:Author and Orange County native Gustavo Arellano will explore America's love affair with Mexican food in a special program Thursday\, April 12\, sponsored by the Fullerton Public Library.\n\n	The program will begin at 7 p.m. at the Fullerton Main Library\, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave.\, adjacent to Fullerton City Hall.\n\n	Arellano will read from his new book\, "Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America\," and talk about the delicious - and sometimes contentious - history of Mexican food throughout the United States.\n\n	"Food is an important part of everyone's life\," said Maureen Gebelein\, Library Director. "And Mexican food specifically is integral to Orange County's history and culture."\n\n	She added that today\, Mexican food dominates American palates to the tune of billions of dollars in sales per year\, from canned refried beans to frozen margaritas and ball park nachos.\n\n	"Taco USA\," Arellano's third book\, will be available for sale at the program through Librer a Martinez (http://libreriamartinez.net/bio.html)\, and Arellano will sign copies following his presentation.\n\n	Arellano's first book\, "Ask a Mexican\," was followed by "Orange County: A Personal History. His syndicated column "Ask a Mexican" boasts a circulation of more than 2 million\, and he is currently editor of "OC Weekly."\n\n	Further information about the free program may be obtained by calling the Fullerton Main Library at (714) 738-6327\, or by logging onto the library's website at www.fullertonlibrary.org.\n\n	Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the program are asked to notify the library staff prior to April 12.
