Description

The Mexican Holiday “El Dia de los Muertos” (“Day of the Dead”) will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 4, when the Fullerton Museum Center presents an evening of Mexican art, music and dance.

“Day of the Dead at the FMC,” which will take place from 6-10 p.m., is being presented by the museum in conjunction with its exhibit, “Frida Kahlo:  Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray,” which traces the celebrated artist’s 10-year affair with renowned photographer Nickolas Muray.

Observed each Nov. 1 in Mexico, "Day of the Dead" – one of Kahlo’s favorite holidays - allows families an opportunity to honor their departed ancestors with offerings of foods, flowers and mementos of their lives.

“Day of the Dead at the FMC” will invite participants to try their hands at Mexican metalworking.  Students from Fullerton Union High School will present traditional Mexican dances honoring ancestors and the continuity of life.

Further information about “Day of the Dead” festivities or the exhibit may be obtained by calling the Fullerton Museum Center at (714) 738-6545.

“Frida Kahlo:  Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray” is courtesy of the collection Nickolas Muray Archives and Tour Development by Smith Kramer Fine Art Services of Kansas City, Missouri.
The exhibit will run through Nov. 20.
Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the festivities are asked to notify the museum staff prior to Nov. 4.
